Was it really meant to end?

- You were my almost, I hope I’m yours too

It’s a cold morning. I looked at my phone screen to see the time, it’s just 3 o’clock. There are some lights from houses not so far away, and some from the lampposts — almost fading. The road can be seen because of the lights from the lamppost and from the stars and moon twinkling from above, but it was covered by fog, all covered by fog.

I slept early last night, I woke up by 2, I tried to sleep again but the thoughts started clouding my mind that’s why I decided to get up and take a not so early morning walk. It’s quiet here. I like it.

I never thought I’ll be doing this kind of thing alone. I used to walk at 4 or 5 am with someone, with that someone. We always talk about things that happened yesterday, what might happen the next few days, and what had happened last month; we sometimes end the conversation with a great cup of coffee, sitting at the edge of the sidewalk, planning what we should do the next day.

I smiled remembering those memories, it was all memories, isn’t it? All of it, stayed and will stay as memories.

If you’ll ask me what happened, I do not know either. Everything just dozed off in an instant without me seeing it. I didn’t even think that it would end in the first place. It was so good. It was so joyous, something to cherish, something to carry until your next life.

I shrugged those thoughts off and started running.

Maybe things were just casual and I am just the only one who thought something was going on.

Maybe I’m just the only one who thought that we’re going somewhere. That we’re almost.

But, questions are still being asked, and I’m tired of asking myself over and over again.

I stopped running and sat by the edge of the sidewalk. Now, it’s me, all alone, without a cup of coffee, without you beside me. I started thinking.

Was it all meant to be just a casual walk? Are we really not going somewhere? Did I just really help you walk through until your destination?

Was it really meant to end?
